Tucker joins Surgery Specialists of Hot Springs

Surgery Specialists of Hot Springs welcomes general surgeon Dr. James "J.J." Tucker to its practice at 1900 Malvern Ave. Tucker joins Drs. Robert Breving, Christian Latham and Adriane Martin at the practice. A native of Hot Springs and a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Tucker obtained his medical degree from The American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten and completed his surgical residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. He performed his minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Our Lady of the Lake, LSU, in Baton Rouge.

"I am very excited to work with such a great group of physicians in my hometown of Hot Springs," said Tucker in the release. "I am focused on providing the latest surgical techniques and procedures, as well as a team-approach to patient care, working with each patient's entire health care team to provide the best and most comprehensive surgical care possible."

Tucker is practicing a full scope of general surgeries, including advanced laparoscopic gastrointestinal, bariatric, colorectal, breast and endocrine surgeries, liver resection, fistula and port placement, reflux, achalasia and upper GI surgery, esophageal surgery and endoscopy.

St. John's hires

pre-K teacher

St. John's Catholic School announced that Stephanie Stewart Gandolph will teach the pre-K 3-year-old class beginning Aug. 19. She graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education and a minor in Nutrition from Henderson State College. Since 2013, she has been the part-time P.E. teacher at St. John's School. She is an alumna of St. John's and her children, Isaac and Dylan, are the third generation in their family to attend St. John's School. Gandolph's child care experience includes being a nanny in Fort Rucker, Ala., while her husband was in training to become a Black Hawk helicopter pilot, daycare supervisor at First Baptist Fitness and Hot Springs Health and Fitness.

According to the release, "Stephanie is energetic and passionate about teaching and sees this vocation as a ministry for the school she loves and the students who attend."
