VCK Democratic Women hear about suicide

Susie Reynolds Reece, with Garland County Suicide Prevention Coalition, will speak at the Virginia Clinton Kelly Democratic Women's meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at Henderson State Hot Springs, Landmark Building, 201 Market St. Social time starts at 5 p.m. She will discuss the suicide of her father when she was 10 and the birth of her first child, which brought love and joy unlike anything she had previously felt.

Reece graduated from Benton High School and attended Pulaski Technical College where she made the Honor Society and was Phi Theta Kappa.

The Garland County Suicide Prevention Coalition, partnered with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, has established a community Survivors of Suicide Loss Grief Group. GCSPC has created tools for use in schools to increase suicide awareness and help prevent suicides by engaging students on the subject.

Reece is working in conjugation with a retired veteran in the formation of an umbrella organization to serve fellow veterans.

Call Dorothy Clark, 318-3210, for information.
