Suspended UA player named in police reports

FAYETTEVILLE - Suspended since July 22 from the University of Arkansas basketball team on suspicion of forgery, incoming senior forward Jacorey Williams was named in Fayetteville police reports twice this month regarding alleged incidents at a local nightclub, according to a newspaper report.

The Fort Smith-based Southwest Times Record said according to a July 5 police report, Essence Singleton, reportedly Williams' girlfriend at the time, told police that Williams "pushed her to the ground" at the Lit Lounge in Fayetteville after she put her hand on his chest and approached him about money she said was owed her.

According to a report, Bryan Jones, a bouncer at Lit Lounge, stepped between them.

On July 18, Jones told police while checking IDs outside the Lit Lounge that he was punched in the face and briefly knocked out.

Two others in security at the nightclub reported seeing a black man punch Jones and "run back into the crowd."

They later identified Williams, according to the Times-Record.

As of Wednesday morning, the Fayetteville City Prosecutor's office had received no complaints regarding either alleged incident at the Lit Lounge

The University of Arkansas has not commented on any of the three players suspended July 22 by coach Mike Anderson.

Anton Beard, a sophomore to-be returning starting point guard; Dustin Thomas, a redshirting junior transfer from the University of Colorado; and Williams were arrested on suspicion of spending counterfeit money.

All are free on $2,500 bond and await an Aug. 24 court date.
