HSV's Crystal Chimes Chorus selects 2015 scholarship winners

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Members of Hot Springs Village's Crystal Chimes Chorus recently announced two scholarship recipients for 2015.

Taylor Mayhood is a recent graduate of Jessieville High School and will attend National Park College, majoring in music. She was a member of Jessieville's Choral Department for seven years and was elected president during her senior year. She has participated in many performances, as a member of its Chamber Choir, the Treblemakers, and Victorian Carolers.

A talented soprano, Mayhood has also starred in a number of musicals, including "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "100 Years of Broadway," "Annie," "The Pirates Of Penzance," and "The Wizard of Oz." She said in a news release that singing is her passion and music is infectious. She wants to teach the world to be passionate about it, and to appreciate it the way she does.

Dale Grimm is a student at Henderson State University, on a path to earn his Bachelor of Music Education. He also plans to work toward a master's degree and eventually get his doctorate while teaching in the public school system. He said music and music education have always been the passions in his life.

CCC members said they were honored to have these two as their scholarship recipients this year and felt they will represent the group well.

Crystal Chimes Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International, the largest women's singing organization in the world. Singing four-part, a cappella harmony in barbershop style, the group is always looking for women who like to sing, make new friends and have fun. Members educate, perform and support the growth of this indigenous American musical art form.
