Artwork by both Pat Langewis and Jim Reimer will be showcased during the month of July at Artists' Workshop Gallery, 610-A Central Ave. The holiday weekend will begin with Friday's Gallery Walk, when they will be present to talk about their art with visitors from 5-9 p.m.

Langewis is a watercolor and silk artist who is a signature member of the Alabama and Missouri Watercolor Societies. She has had her work selected to hang in numerous national and international shows, winning much recognition in them. She recently received a grant through the Arkansas Heritage Council to study with world-renowned teacher Susan Moyer.

A native of California, Langewis majored in theater and fine art. She said in a news release, "With my background in musical theater and art, I see the world with a box of crayons and through a kaleidoscope. My art will capture you with vivid color. It's how I view the world."

Reimer's interest in art began at an early age, and his formal art education began during 1969 in California. He lived in the San Francisco Bay Area most of his life, and in Napa, Calif., for 20 years. Many of his earlier paintings are scenes of wine country and the West Coast landscapes, which now hang in private collections. In 2000, he moved to Arkansas and the natural beauty of this area has inspired many of his recent paintings. His subjects include landscapes, seascapes, still life, portraits, sport scenes and animals.

He prefers oil as a medium, because its slow-drying characteristics allow him to work on his paintings over several sessions, giving him the freedom for the painting to evolve from an original concept to a scene totally imagined. His pastels are colorful and fresh. He is also versatile in the mediums of pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic and charcoal.

Reimer has regularly exhibited his works in California and Arkansas, and has won many awards including several Best of Shows. He has paintings in private collections throughout the country, including Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon and Texas.
