Byrd was one of 11 contestants to participate in the event.

Participants opened the evening with a rendition of "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars. Judged rounds included Sportswear, Evening Wear, Talent and Interview.

"The kids were great," said Jennifer Louk, CMS Drama Club sponsor. "They all worked extremely hard and, most importantly, they had fun."

Byrd performed a dramatic reading of "All the Single Ladies" by Beyoncé and answered a question regarding gun control.

Trevor Wren was named the first runner-up. Drake Priddy won the People's Choice Award.

Matthew Bates won Best Talent. Brett Shelton was named Mr. Congeniality. All proceeds went to support the CMS Drama Club.

"I was very pleased with the support from the community," said Louk. "We had a full house, and I think we created some buzz for next year."

Judges for the event were Brandon Emerson, Lynn Janaskie and Tammy Harvey. The night also included performances by the CMS Drumline and singer/songwriter Teddy Cross.
