LHHS alumni present research posters at Capitol

JONESBORO -- Two Lake Hamilton High School alumni were among 11 students from Arkansas State University to be selected to present research posters at the 2015 "STEM Posters at the Capitol" event on Feb. 11.

Tyler Knapp, a biology major, presented "Hairy Root Cultures of Muscadine Grape: A Sustainable Bioproduction and Discovery Platform for Therapeutic Agents."

Zach Marsh, also a biology major, partnered with Alyssa Caparas, of Jonesboro, to present "A Therapeutic Compound Produced in Plants for Improving Aquaculture Fish Health."

Students from 15 institutions throughout the state participated. The event's purpose is to promote understanding and participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Posters were set up in the rotunda of the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock. Legislators, constitutional officers and other state officials were invited.
