Mountain Pine High School was one of several local recipients of Dollars of Joy grants this year from Community of Joy Lutheran Church.
The church provides grants each year to organizations within 50 miles of Hot Springs Village. Mountain Pine applied for funds for the school's discretionary fund.
Other recipients were Village Churches Mission Outreach, FOCUS Low Vision Program and SCAT Transportation. The Mission Committee reviews grant applications each year.
Community of Joy Council President Anne King presented the donation to Mike Keese, Mountain Pine High School principal, and Paul Sims, counselor.
The program began six years by a parishioner when members gave offerings more yearly, monthly or through other programs. Members began to give in single dollars at a time each week to provide for local organizations.
