Representatives from First Step in Hot Springs recently appeared at a meeting of Scenic 7 Rotary, specifically discussing their services for adults with disabilities. With club President Charlie Whitworth, left, are Harmony Morrissey and Blake Patterson. Since its beginning in 1958, First Step has worked to improve the quality of life for those with developmental disabilities. It now serves 1,900 consumers in 27 Arkansas counties. Patterson, director of Adult Services, pointed out that the children at First Step often remain "clients for life" as they gain employment and transition to independent living.
