Congressional Art Competition submissions accepted

The office of U.S. Rep. Bruce Westerman, R-District 4, will accept submissions through April 27 from 4th Congressional District high school students for the 2015 Congressional Art Competition.

The competition, which began in 1982, enables high school students to showcase their artistic ability in the Cannon Tunnel that connects the House office building complex to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Each year, more than 3 million people view the gallery as they walk through the Cannon Tunnel.

Entries should be submitted to Westerman's district office, 101 Reserve St., Suite 200, Hot Springs, AR 71901. Entries may be submitted in person during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, or by mail.

Winners will be announced during a reception at 5:30 p.m. May 5 in Hot Springs Convention Center, 134 Convention Blvd. Winners will receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C., where they will attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and may be eligible for a scholarship to one of the leading colleges in art and design in the United States.
