Shooting from the hip

Dear editor:

Regarding that dumb letter that Tommy boy wrote to Iran, everyone needs to be reminded of the fact that these are six-country negotiations and not just the U.S. and Iran. They also include Russia, China, England and France. So our esteemed junior senator is also at odds with all of these other countries.

It seems to me that the only alternative to these talks is military action. And just like John McCain, Cotton has not seen a war he doesn't like. Another reminder: Russia is Iran's closest ally. They are armed by and trained by Russia, just like Syria is. The Chinese are also gaining influence in the region. So military action in Iran could possibly be the beginning or another world war, especially with Mr. Putin in charge of the Russian military.

If there is no good military option in the Ukraine, then there is definitely no good military option in Iran. We can't even get rid of ISIS or the Taliban or al-Qaida, let alone Iran. And if we do enter into a conflict with Iran, do not be surprised if we are all paying $6 or more for a gallon of gas. That would really make our economy hum.

Tom Cotton has done a great disservice to our country with his shoot from the hip style, just like George Bush did when he invaded Iraq. Our involvement militarily in the Middle East has been costly in both treasure and people, and there really is still no end in sight. It is like the game Bash A Mole. Hit one in that hole and one pops up some where else.

Now, I am Jewish, so before you think I am an anti-Semite, I wanted to clear that up. Until Israel is serious about a peace plan and we keep supporting them even though they continue to build settlements in occupied territory, then we will be hated by all Arabs. Think if Mexico invaded Texas and built a wall around it and started building settlements there. Would we be happy? Would we use any way we could to get it back and get them out?

Everyone deserves to have a place to call home. The Jews have one, the French have one, we have one. So why shouldn't the Palestinians?
