Jazzercise instructors raised $1,000 for Relay for Life by forming a team and having a contest during each class for the month of April. According to Jazzercise instructor and benefit organizer Rene Burns, Relay for Life will use the donations for families who have been diagnosed with cancer and for further research.
Held at Hot Springs Jazzercise, the event drew more than 135 participants. There were cash prizes for several who collected the most money and attended the most classes. The winners were Vicki Philipp, Allison Miller and Debby Smith.
Over the years, Jazzercise instructors have raised more than $28 million for a wide range of charities through community events including special large-scale workout classes, performances at major sporting events and local benefits.
