Dear editor: The good old days

Dear editor:

Grampa, tell me 'bout the good ol' days ... Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end ... Ya' mean there was good service for what ya' paid for? ... Ya' mean there was a simpler, more honest way of doing business? ....

A close friend of mine recently sent me a copy of a note that I had sent to an old boss of mine way back in 1992. When I had telephoned him to let him know I had received it, he began to reminisce about the good old days. The good old days when you could dial a phone number and immediately get a human voice, not a recorded, automated thing telling you to dial a 1 for this or a 2 for that. Then once you do pick one, you wait and wait and still wait.

Ah yes, the good old days! Remember them? I could go on, but I think that you get the idea.
