HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- A free School's Out Celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6 at Balboa Beach to celebrate the end of the school year.
The party will feature music, volleyball, beach ball, Baggo, and a water trampoline. Kayaks and stand-up paddle boards will be available for rent and a vendor will offer food for sale.
No lifeguards will be on duty and parents should accompany children to the event.
Coronado Fitness Center
offers swim lessons
Coronado Fitness Center will offer weekly swim lessons from June 15 to July 31, except for June 29 through July 3.
Beginning June 15, 45-minute lessons will be held at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. weekdays. Each weekly class costs $32.50. Call Deb Johnson, 922-1230, for more information or to sign up for lessons.
During these times, the indoor pool will only have one lane open for water walking. The Monday, Wednesday and Friday shallow water aerobics class normally held at 10 a.m. will be held at 2:30 p.m. for the duration of swim lessons. Beginning Aug. 3, the class will move back to its regularly scheduled time slot.
'Big Break' challenge
set for July on Magellan
Entries are being received for the "Big Break" style short game skills challenge that will be held July 1 on the Magellan Golf Course, 451 Ponce de Leon Drive.
Golfers can test their short game skills, including the "flop shot" over the "flop wall" and hit their punch shot for the "glass break" skill, and participate in an optional "skins" game.
Contestants and non-contestants alike will have an opportunity to test drive a Segway, compete in a water skip contest, or enter the raffle and enjoy grilled hamburgers.
The cost is $49 for adults and $19 for juniors age 18 and younger. Entry forms are available at any Hot Springs Village golf course pro-shop or online at http://www.hsvwga18.com.

Artists reception
set for Woodlands
The Artistics will display their work in the Woodlands Auditorium lobby during June. Residents can meet the artists and view their work during a public reception from 3-5 p.m. Thursday at the Woodlands, 1101 DeSoto Blvd.
The event is free and light refreshments will be served.
