Bank of Little Rock Mortgage helped local Special Olympians Bowl

Each year a Special Olympics of Arkansas bowling event is held in Hot Springs on Nov. 13 with the mission to provide "sports training and athletic competition for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community." The children from Jessieville and Fountain Lake "truly enjoy participating in this annual bowling event." They practice to compete at least five weeks before the Olympics start; however, participation can be a financial hardship on families.

When Shauna Wood, at Bank of Little Rock Mortgage in Hot Springs Village, heard that the local children needed help, she immediately contacted her corporate office. Bank of Little Rock Mortgage donated the funds needed to provide approximately 45 local children the opportunity to take a bus to Fiesta Bowling Alley in Hot Springs Village every Friday and play one to two games of bowling in order to practice for their upcoming tournament.

"All of the Jessieville and Fountain Lake children and families as well as the Hot Springs Village Board of REALTORS truly appreciated Bank of Little Rock Mortgage's help. Thank you Shauna Wood and Bank of Little Rock Mortgage," it state in the release. Wood may be reached at 501-915-2300.
