Oaklawn Park adds to Senior Management Team

Kelli Mussa, hired in May as director of Human Resources, has been promoted to the Senior Management Team. Mussa has brought a wealth of knowledge in Human Resources and Gaming to Oaklawn, which has been continuously growing its work force in recent years, especially since completing a $20 million expansion last November.

"Kelli's extensive background in gaming and human resources has already proved invaluable to Oaklawn," said General Manager Eric Jackson in the release. "Our biggest advantages over our competition are our location in Hot Springs National Park and superior customer service, so finding the right people is vital. We will be relying heavily on Kelli's expertise as we prepare to double our workforce heading into the 2016 live race meet."

Mussa's career in gaming began 23 years ago when she became a dealer at one of the first casinos in Mississippi. Over the years, she has held a variety of positions at different gaming properties, including Splash Casino, Horseshoe Casino and Fitzgeralds Tunica. Her job titles ranged from table games floor supervisor to table games assistant shift manager to interim director of Human Resources before taking on the role of Director of Human Resources.

Born in Hawaii, Mussa holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Human Resources Management from the University of Mississippi.

"I couldn't be more excited about my position with Oaklawn," said Mussa. "I was fortunate to be in on the ground floor when Tunica's gaming industry was taking off and I see that same growth potential here."

The Senior Management Team was developed in the late 1990s in response to its changing business model and among the original members were Jackson, Director of Marketing Kim Baron and Director of Gaming and Wagering Bobby Geiger. Plant Superintendent John Hopkins and Director of Food and Beverage Belinda Castleberry joined in 2012.
