Sixteen local women were awarded scholarships by the Hot Springs/Hot Springs Village branch of the American Association of University Women at a luncheon gala at Hot Springs Country Club. Scholarships were funded by the AAUW annual Scholarship Book Sale held in October. The sale has become an "event" in the area and is well-supported by the community through the donations and purchases of used books.

The women receiving scholarships at National Park College are: Oralia Garcia, Stephanie Carpenter, Heather Adams, Meredith Sykora, Hope Bratton, Amanda Pennington, Alyssa Diggs, Remedios Santos, Mary Lynn, Ines Ramirez, Marcella Mendez and Sheena Casteel.

Transfer scholarships were awarded to Samantha Hager, Jennifer Blees, Briana Tedford and Anne Benoit.

AAUW's mission is to promote equity for women and girls, and to encourage lifelong education and positive societal change. The scholarships granted by the branch affirm its strong commitment to this mission.
