Inmates making the rules

Dear editor:

As I read the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Tuesday morning, there seems to be a great question arise as to inmates letting their beards grow. I think it's time the people operating the prisons start making the rules and not the inmates. If these inmates have such deeply held religious beliefs that they feel they must let their beards grow, I wonder how they got into prison to start with. They must have laid aside their deeply held beliefs long enough to kill, steal, sell drugs, rape someone and any number of things. So I say let them lay aside their deeply held beliefs until they are released.

It seems to me like the judges have lost all common sense to go through this nonsense. Lawbreakers should lose their rights when they enter the prison and be thankful for the benefits they receive as they use up our tax money!
