A narrow interpretation

Dear editor:

In response to Laura Burba Wilson's letter of Sept. 30.

The pope's statement reads, "I cannot hide my concern for the family which is threatened perhaps as never before, from within and without. Fundamental relationships are being called into question, as is the very basis of marriage and the family. I an only reiterate the importance and, above all, the richness and beauty of family life."

Where do you get from this statement that this is a direct statement against gay marriage and abortion? This statement is open to each individual's interpretation and I read it as he is not condemning any family. A family is a couple or group who choose to love and support each other and all who make up this family unit. Judging all others according to your own narrow interpretation can be a fatal mistake.

Love one another and support all who try to make this world a better place.

Just my feelings on this matter,

Patricia Williams
