Hot Springs' playoff hopes were further dashed Friday night as the Trojans remained winless in conference play, losing 42-7 to De Queen on Holt Memorial Field at Reese Memorial Stadium.

Cirilo Resendiz' 170 yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries spoiled Hot Springs' homecoming, helping De Queen avenge its 52-12 loss last season to the team coached by its former leader, Chris Vereen.

The clock ran continously after Resendiz went 52 yards through the heart of the defense with 9 minutes left in the third quarter. His 53-yard run on the Leopards' next possession made it 42-0 with 16:38 of clock time remaining.

Hot Springs scored on Chris Kinnon's 3-yard with 14 seconds left in the game, Erick Guadron converting. Korey Wasson's 39 yards on 11 carries led the Trojans (3-3, 0-3), who play at Magnolia next week before hosting White Hall Oct. 23.

Hot Springs' lone first-half highlight came on its first play from scrimmage, Ethan O'Riley's 31-yard play action pass to Kenneth Byrd. The Trojans gained only 11 more yards before leaving the field down 28-0.

Three turnovers, four negative plays and a missed 39-yard field goal compounded the Trojans' first-half woes, Hot Springs limited to three first downs. Cleo Floyd finished the half with 25 yards on carries, a long gain of nine.

Hot Springs went three and out after losing 11 yards on its first possession of the second half.

De Queen (2-4, 1-2) rolled to four first-half scores, Junior Rojas returning a fumbled kickoff five yards with 44 seconds before the break. The Leopards' 266-yard half included Resendiz touchdown runs of 18 and 11 yards.

Drew Dykes completed nine of 10 first-half passes for 146 yards. His 22-yard touchdown run with 3:38 left in the second quarter capped a nine-play 99-yard drive that put the Leopards ahead 21-0.
