Gitz column 'odious'

Dear editor:

Columnist Bradley R. Gitz, in his most odious column of Oct. 7, makes the arguments touting the triumph of capitalism and the failure of socialism.

Instead of arguing his moot points one by one, I agree that Karl Marx recognized that capitalism was a necessary stage because it was the first stage which produced a sufficient level of goods and services to satisfy needs.

Are you saying that the wealth of America has not attained the first stage? No money for social programs?

This is not an "either/or" proposition. It is an "and" proposition. Not capitalism or socialism, but capitalism and socialism. Look to the Western World. Incorporate -- both. Think the Golden Rule.
