Today's main feature for Hot Springs JazzFest will be the Classical & Jazz Explosion, taking place at 7 p.m. in the intimate nightclub-style setting of the Five Star Dinner Theatre, 701 Central Ave.

Presented by the Morris Foundation and Hot Springs Jazz Society, the event will blend a classical string quartet and a jazz combo, creating an experience of how the two complement each other and create a fusion of musical styles.

The program will begin with the Quapaw Quartet performing classical music. Next will be a performance by the Clyde Pound Jazz Combo, highlighting special guest Allen Won, a saxophonist from New York City.

The concert's highlight will be when the quartet and combo play together to marry the two music genres. Vocalist Diane Kesling will join the performance, also participating in a special duet with Shirley Chauvin, the evening's emcee. This is a concert guaranteed to amaze.

Tickets are $35 for nonmembers of the Hot Springs Jazz Society and $30 for members.

Other events scheduled for the 24th annual JazzFest are the outdoor Jazz in the Streets on Saturday, and both the St. Luke's Jazz Mass and Stardust Big Band Tea Dance on Sunday.
