A Prescott man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly pointing a rifle at a Hot Springs police officer at a gas station.

Bradley Leon Williams, 36, was taken into custody at 7:30 p.m. and charged with aggravated assault, a felony punishable by up to six years in prison. Williams remained in custody Wednesday in lieu of $2,500 bond and is set to appear May 10 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, HSPD Sgt. Chris Lackey responded to Mapco, 4139 Central Ave., in reference to a suspect in at the back of the store with a backpack and a long rifle. He parked to the left side of the building, exited his unit, went between a fence and grease disposal tank and approached the suspect. A white male wearing glasses, later identified as Williams, was observed holding a backpack and what appeared to be an AR-15 assault rifle.

Lackey pulled his weapon and pointed it at Williams ordering him to drop his gun. Williams turned around and started pointing his weapon at Lackey as he backed away. Lackey backed away toward the side of the building and Officer Sean Dauberger pulled to the east side of the Mapco, also drawing his weapon on Williams.

Williams finally dropped his backpack and weapon and started complying with officers and was taken into custody without further incident.
