Take Your Legislator to School Month nears

In an effort to support and strengthen relationships with local school districts, members of the Legislature will participate in the Take Your Legislator to School Month in September.

During the 2015 Regular Session, the Legislature passed HCR1008, a resolution designating September as the annual Take Your Legislator to School Month. This bipartisan initiative was motivated by a need for members of the General Assembly to fully understand the issues and challenges facing public schools, as well as learn about educators' many innovative educational programs and solutions.

HCR1008 encourages public school districts to plan special events with their local legislators.

Districts are given the opportunity to showcase innovative solutions and success, organize faculty and staff to discuss possible solutions for issues and challenges, schedule guided tours and provide chances for legislators to speak with students, and sponsor panel discussions with administrators, teachers and students to address issues in education.
