Dear editor:
Wow, were we excited about the Hot Springs School District's plans for the future which we read about recently in this paper! It is true that many of our school buildings are showing their age and need restoring and rebuilding. But we were most happy to hear that the number of school campuses will be decreased so that transporting a family's children of different ages will be easier. With fewer campus changes for each child, teachers will be able to work with students over several years and get to know them well.
It has been a long time since the Hot Springs School District has benefited from additional millage for construction and updating. Eventually we just have to invest in improvements to buildings and equipment.
Let's not forget, too, that having a good school system in our area improves our property values.
The city of Hot Springs is on a roll. Hopefully we can all vote for the millage to allow our local school system to keep up with the momentum.
