Late registration Saturday is from 7 a.m.-8:30 a.m. at the east end of Adam Brown Road. Running a mostly straight course with slight rolling hills, open males and females begin at 8 a.m., followed by masters (over 40) at 8:20 a.m, varsity boys (grades 10-12) at 8:40 a.m. varsity girls at 9 a.m., junior-high boys (grades 7-9) at 9:20 a.m. and junior-high girls at 9:40 a.m. Ages 12 and under run a half-mile at 10 a.m.

Awards go to the top five male and female finishers in each division. Entry fee (including race day) is $10. Checks should be made payable to Adam Brown Road Mile and mailed to coach Karl Koonce, 109 West Hill Lane, Hot Springs, AR 71913. For more information, call Koonce at 501-282-3481.

The races began on the former Owens Road (now Aldridge Road) east of Lake Hamilton School. They are named in honor of a Lake Hamilton High graduate who served with the U.S. Navy SEALS and was killed in action in Afghanistan in March 2010. While assaulting an enemy compound, Brown placed himself in the line of fire to protect other members of his unit.
