Arkie Division finale set on Lake Dardanelle

The FLW Bass Fishing League's Arkie Division circuit ends this weekend with a two-day super tournament on Lake Dardanelle.

Approximately 400 boaters and co-anglers are expected to compete Saturday and Sunday for top awards of $11,400 and $4,500, respectively.

Tournament officials project a two-day catch of 10 bass nearing 40 pounds by the winner. Areas with shallow grass should be productive with swimbaits and soft-plastic creature baits, while others may be seen tackling the deeper ledge bite using deep-diving crankbaits or jigs.

Russellville boater Zack Freeman won a one-day Arkie Division tournament on Lake Dardanelle July 9 with five fish weighing 18 pounds, 12 ounces. Quincy Houchin of Mabelvale won March and June tournaments on Lake Ouachita and Conway's Jeremiah Kindy an April stop on DeGray Lake.

Bryant's Cody Burke leads the Arkie Division boater standings by one point over Houchin (969-968) with Mount Ida's Danny Gwinn third. John Andrew Jr. of Cherry Valley tops the co-angler standings over Hot Springs' Ron Knight (941) with Hot Springs' Branko Todrovic fifth.

The top 50 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament, from which a top-six finish qualifies one for the BFL All-American. Top BFL winners can advance to the Costa FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
