Garland County Library offers programs for September

Garland County Library, 427 Malvern Ave., will offer a variety of programs in September, including activities geared toward adults.

Drop-in Craft: Paper Flowers, from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, will give library visitors the chance to learn how to make paper flowers. No registration is required.

Bingo for Books, at 1 p.m. Sept. 6, will offer participants the chance to play bingo to win books and other prizes. Registration is required.

Members of Garland County Master Gardeners will continue their Know It To Grow It Series at 1 p.m. Sept. 7 with Wonderful World of Mosses. The Master Gardeners will discuss how to cultivate and use native mosses in the garden and home. Registration is required.

The library's first program in the fall series Back to Basics will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 10. Classes in the series will focus on do-it-yourself and homesteading-type hobbies and crafts. The first in this series will be cheese-making with Nolen Buffalo, owner of The Water Buffalo store in Little Rock.

The Poetry Class with John Crawford will return in September with a discussion on free verse poetry from various authors at 2 p.m. Sept. 12.

The library will start a six-week Diabetes Empowerment Education Program at 1 p.m. Sept. 19. Call 623-0020 to register.

The library will host the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training program Dementia & Alzheimer's Disease from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 29. Call 276-0945 to register.

Tech Help:eBay will be offered at 1 p.m. Sept. 30. Registration is required.

Programs for children and teens are also available at the library.

Garland County Gamers takes place from 5-7 p.m. every Wednesday. Youths 18 years old and younger are welcome to play video games.

Baby Steps, a lap-sit program for children up to 18 months month that incorporates nursery rhymes, songs and finger plays, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 21.

Jennifer Holm, author of the "Babymouse" graphic novel series, will be at Spa-Con Sept. 23-25. The library is sponsoring her visit as part of its partnership with Visit Hot Springs on Spa-Con.
