Flute ensemble to perform concert series

The Hot Springs Flute Ensemble is scheduled to present a series of free Christmas concerts for the community.

Conducted by Sigilda Naidin, the group will perform Dec. 17 at Country Club Village at 1 p.m. and at 3 p.m. in the lobby of the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa. The final concert will be at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19 in Anthony Chapel at Garvan Woodland Gardens.

Selections featured for this season include "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," "Parade of the Tin Soldiers," "Evening Snowfall," "African Noel," "Gesu Bambino," "Mary, Did You Know?" and "Let it Snow." The group will also play a set of Renaissance Noels.

Rounding out the concert will be soprano Robin Williams singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." Williams will also lead the audience singing "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" and "Frosty the Snow Man."

The ensemble, which is a non-profit organization, is their 34th performance season and is associated with the National Flute Association.

Flutists playing are Lynn Clardy on flute and piccolo; C flutists Donna Toler, Regenia Bettis, Rebecca Irwin, Harriet Reynolds, Janis Hopper, Ann Weik, Marcia Gilmore, Robin Williams, Sally Matthews, Marilyn Coffman, Priscilla Wacaster, Sue Kelly, Steve Bonner, Hal Thompson, Kajal Bharany, Leoni Bermejo, Payton Teague and Deonne and Josie Carson. Alto flutists are Sara Ferril, Leah Kuhn Venable, Kathy Skinner, Makayla Lovell, Ann Smedley and Jaree Hall. Bass flutists are Jackie Flowers, Beverly Hegwood, Ronald Johnson, Rhonda Hall and John Skinner. ContraBass flutists are Sarah-Marie Linneman, Sarah Minor and Kristin Grant.
