Message of unity

Dear editor:

I agree with Sen. Alan Clark's letter in The Sentinel-Record of Jan. 28 regarding the MLK Prayer Breakfast. Dr. King did, indeed, advocate bringing people together regardless of the color of their skin or their political ideology or age, thank God.

Mrs. Joyce Craft delivered a powerful message to all people to put into action what Dr. King dedicated his life for. I believe we spend too much time trying to decide who is liberal and who is conservative. I believe we are all a bit of both, depending on the issues.

I once served on a bicentennial committee in the Village of Maywood, Ill., called the "Village of Light." I learned from working with other citizens that we should be careful about putting labels on each other. Labels don't always fit. The important issue is to find common ground and work for the good of the whole community. That goes for our national leaders as well!

Sen. Clark's letter expressed unity and learning more about carrying out Dr. King's message and the message the prayer breakfast encouraged all of us to do everyday. Mrs. Craft expressed it too.

Love to all,

P.S. Aren't you glad we are free to express our opinions in The Sentinel-Record, to disagree and to agree? Enough said!
