HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Stardust Big Band is hard at work preparing for its Valentines In The Village Concert, to begin at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 in Woodlands Auditorium, 1101 DeSoto Blvd.

The concert will be presented by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Hot Springs Village, with all proceeds going toward supporting youth in the community.

The Stardust Big Band was originally formed in 1982 and has performed locally ever since. It is composed of 17 members who continue to bring people together through their music. The group consists of keyboards, bass and drums, four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones and one vocalist. The band is all volunteer, with none of the musicians receiving a salary.

The featured singer with the band is Shirley Chauvin. She is a professional musician and has been a member of the Stardust Big Band since 1994. Chauvin has also appeared in several HSV shows outside her activities with the Stardust Big Band.

Joining her and the band will be Bryan Stout, familiar to residents of the Village as lead singer with Colt and the Old 45s. Stout co-founded the group in 2007, and they have performed numerous times in the Village and surrounding areas, and are often showcased in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Stout will not only perform several solos, but will also sing a duet with Chauvin.

Several instrumentalists, including saxophonist Earl Hesse, trumpeter Mike Copeland, and pianist Paul Thorne, will additionally be showcased in special arrangements.

An added visual treat will be the dance team of Rick and Sarah Pinedo. The couple specialize in the Latin dances, specifically the Argentine tango, which led to them being featured in two local magazines, the "High Profile" section of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, interviews on KARK News Channel 4 and KLRT Fox News Channel 16, and finally, showcased in a PBS documentary of a historic dance hall in Little Rock.

Open seating tickets are priced at $15, and can be purchased online at http://www.hsvpoa.org.
