The National Weather Service has placed Garland County and most of western Arkansas under a red flag warning until 6 p.m., which means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will occur shortly.
A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will contribute to extreme fire behavior, the Weather Service said.
āGusty northwest winds and low humidity values ... will be observed across western Arkansas this afternoon,ā the warning said.
The warning said to expect:
ā¢ Sustained winds of 12 to 18 mph, with higher gusts expected.
ā¢ Minimum afternoon humidity values below 25 percent.
ā¢ Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
