Candidates announced for POA board director seats

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- Five candidates have submitted applications and been certified to be placed on the Hot Springs Village Board of Directors election ballot.

Three seats are up for election in 2016, replacing Harv Shelton and Jeff Atkins, along with the open position created by Mary Neilson's resignation in December.

Applicants include James K. Buss, Robert Cunningham, Clay Herrmann, Clarence W. Roe and Thomas W. Weiss. All candidates must be members in good standing and may not be POA employees.

Candidates were required to submit a statement in 500 words or fewer to represent their individual views, including background information, number of years as a property owner, current community involvement, and reasons for wanting to serve on the board. Candidates were also required to submit a petition with 50 signatures of members in good standing, requesting that their name appear on the election ballot.

Candidate statements will be printed in the Spring "Advocate" issue, which will be mailed to members in early March. Ballots will be mailed on March 4. All ballots must be received back to the POA no later than 4 p.m. March 24.

On March 25, ballots will be counted and results sent to the general manager, who will notify the current board of directors and all candidates.

Newly elected board members will be seated at the conclusion of the April 20 board meeting.
