Lies, lies, and more lies

Dear editor:

I feel sorry for you zealots and Christians who are struggling to compromise your morals, ethics and favorite Bible teachings in voting for Trump. I am sure it has been an impressive effort to turn the other cheek -- to ridicule truths, ignore facts and chose the greater horror, who is a racist, who supports torture and who seems to have little time for human rights.

I am not happy that the RNC, and recently the DNC, had claims of bias against candidates -- not fair, but fixable. I am not happy that Hillary made the poorer choice in her email fiasco. But she broke no laws, and she was clearly not intending to subvert the country, unless you believe that as a liberal she is some vile reincarnated communist evil spawned from the depths ... you get my point.

And she's a liar, eh! How about Trump's biggest lie -- his real business record? Like the failed Trump Airline, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, GoTrump.com, Trump Mortgage, Trump Magazine, Trump Ice, Trump University, New Jersey Generals, Tour de Trump, Trump on the Ocean, Trump Network, Trump New Media ... enough already! And four bankruptcies, in 1991, 1992, 2004, 2009 for casinos and hotel developments in Atlantic City. How many people has Trump put out of work? How many people remain unpaid from Trump's projects? How many lawsuits have been filed against Trump and his businesses (approximately 3,500, including 169 lawsuits in federal court)? How many liens by contractors on Trump projects (200-plus)? Yes, I did the research; you can too.

And finally, let's put this email controversy into perspective. Guess who else used government business on personal emails -- Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Chris Christie, Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal, as well as the staffs of Condoleezza Rice and Gen. Colin Powell. And guess who used a personal account from 1999-2007 -- that's right, Jeb Bush. And few likely recall April 12, 2007, during Bush-Cheney time, when Congress demanded White House emails in connection with the administration's firing of eight U.S. attorneys, and their administration announced that as many as 5 million emails covering a two-year span had been lost, including private RNC emails. Hmmm!

Some of you will note that I have not quoted the Bible yet. I think other quotes are more applicable. As writer Sonia Saraiya recently said, "The pursuit of truth is not a liberal bias." To excerpt from Texan Chris Ladd's resignation letter as a Republican precinct committeeman in Chicago, "Preserving a party is not a morally defensible goal if that party has lost its legitimacy ... A party willing to lend its collective capital to Donald Trump has entered a compromise beyond any credible threshold of legitimacy." So much for the foolishness of taking the pledge!
