heat-illness program

Centerpoint High School's coaching staff is conducting a heat-illness awareness program at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school cafeteria, informing athletes and parents of the dangers resulting from heat illness and preventive measures. Coach Cary Rogers says attendance is "highly recommended as heat illness can occur in any sport and at any grade level."

Centerpoint students earning the seventh grade have a two-day football camp Tuesday and Wednesday of next week from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. daily. A physical examination. given through the school or at the athlete's expense, is required for participation. Any student unable to attend because of prior commitments will be allowed to play when school starts, Rogers said.
