Residents reminded of sanitation regulations

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE -- The Sanitation Department would like to remind Hot Springs Village residents of the solid waste collection procedures.

Solid waste is defined as household waste, including garbage, which must be disposed of in a sanitary manner. Household solid waste, excluding white goods, must be placed in a heavy-duty plastic bag, not to exceed 40 pounds including contents, then placed in an approved waste can.

Residential customers are limited to a maximum of four 40-gallon waste cans.

Sharp objects, including broken glass and used medical supplies, should be placed in a separate container before placing in bag, to avoid injury to sanitation crews.

Yard waste, special collection items, or building materials shall not be mixed with household solid waste, and will not be collected with regular household solid waste.

A yard waste tag is required on each bag, bundle or can. Tags may be purchased at the POA Administration Building in the Public Works office, 895 DeSoto Blvd. There is a limit of 50 bags per collection.

Special collections, like furniture, appliances, water heaters, grills, metal, and wood, must be placed within 5 feet of the road. Special collections are billed at $25.75 per trip necessary to pick up all materials placed for collection.

To request yard waste and special collections, call 501-922-5524.
