Burton to speak Sunday at First Christian Church

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1806 Central Ave., will hear guest minister the Rev. Nadine Burton speak at 10:50 a.m. Sunday. A fellowship dinner in honor of Burton will follow the worship service.

She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary. She spent eight years as the minister for New Church, Leader Development at Church Extension in Indianapolis, where she nurtured and trained New Church pastors to plant vital and sustainable churches.

In May 2009, she completed a Doctorate of Ministry from Lexington Theological Seminary focused in Multicultural Ministry. She recently completed an interim assignment as the associate pastor, strategic development, at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church.

Burton has served in a variety of leadership roles within the Disciples of Christ, some of which are the Christian Board of Publication, workshop leader and facilitator at several general assemblies and the National Convocation of African American churches.
