Community Correction seeks volunteer mentors

LITTLE ROCK -- Arkansas Community Correction is seeking volunteers for a mentoring program that works with ex-offenders.

ACC says mentors are vital to the success of residents' re-entry into their local communities. The mentoring commitment is one hour per week.

The hours are flexible and agreed upon between the mentor and ex-offender for a minimum of six months. The time can include the resident's incarceration and release period.

Mentors may be asked to attend court hearings and be available at critical times, including the date of the resident's release from prison. Initial training, including orientation, will be required.

Mentors must be at least 21 years of age. Applications and information are available from Ardella Bearden, mentoring coordinator, at 501-743-0959 and [email protected].
