ASBTDC announces July programs

ARKADELPHIA -- The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Henderson State University has announced several programs to be offered in the first two weeks of July.

A free Small Business Startup Summit will be held at College of the Ouachitas in Malvern from 4-7:30 p.m. July 7. The event will be co-sponsored by Southern Bancorp and combines two of the ASBTDC's most popular seminars.

"Starting a Business in Arkansas" is meant to prepare participants for the business planning process, identify major steps crucial to starting a business, discuss key issues that affect business success and highlight startup requirements and common pitfalls entrepreneurs face.

"How to Write a Business Plan" will cover the business planning process in detail. Business plans are required to obtain small business loans.

Participants will be taught the importance of planning and the elements of a good plan. The seminar is recommended as a first step for new entrepreneurs.

The "Create an Online Store" workshop will be offered July 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Henderson State Community Education Center in Arkadelphia, 640 S. Sixth St. A $50 fee is required to attend.

The workshop is offered to show business owners how to sell products and accept credit cards online. Participants will be taught how to design an online store and create an attractive and functional e-commerce experience using Weebly.

A free online webinar will be offered 10-11 a.m. July 13 to help small businesses understand human resource management. The webinar can be viewed online at http://www.asbtdc.org/webinars.
