Arynn Johnson was recently crowned Miss Arkansas USA 2017 at the Arend Arts Center in Bentonville and will represent the state at the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas.

Johnson, 19, of Hot Springs, attends Baylor University, where she is a triple major in marketing, finance and corporate business. She says she hopes to combine that education with her passion for working with children with special needs and those in need of special medical care to someday become an executive at a children's hospital.

The charity of choice for the Miss Arkansas System is Warriors for Ross, which helps raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer victims and their families.

"Cancer prevention is a cause I hold very close to my heart," Johnson said in a news release. "With my mom working at a cancer center, I have been given the opportunity to attend many different charity events, and that is where my passion began. I have worked with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and Susan G. Komen Foundation, St. Jude and have been an active volunteer with the Our Promise Foundation."

Johnson said she enjoys reading, traveling, health and fitness.

A former Miss Arkansas Teen USA titleholder, Johnson won overall interview.
