Harps CEO retires, new named

SPRINGDALE -- Roger Collins, chairman of the board at Harps Food Stores Inc., announced that after nearly 17 years as CEO, he was stepping down from that position and Kim Eskew, current president and chief operating officer, was elected as the new CEO. Collins will remain as chairman.

Eskew, originally from Piggott, came to Harps in 1977. He began his career with Harps while in college at the University of Arkansas and worked his way up through the organization becoming executive vice president in 2002 and president and COO in 2008.

"Kim has the experience and proven leadership skills to be our next CEO," said Collins in the release. "He has been overseeing marketing and operations, and has been instrumental in helping produce 11 consecutive years of record earnings. He is a man of integrity and I am confident that he will do a skillful job moving Harps forward. I am very happy for him."

Harps, which was founded in 1930, was a family-owned business until becoming employee-owned in 2001. It now has 85 stores located in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas. Since becoming employee-owned, the company has more than doubled in size and added more than $100,000,000 of value to the accounts of the Harps employee-owners.

Meyers Realty

welcomes new agents

Principal broker Larry W. Meyers recently welcomed Shirley Anderson-Jones and Jane Phillips-Jolly to the Meyers Realty "Home Team."

"Meyers Realty has had a successful real estate marketing presence in Hot Springs for 55 continuous years, since 1961", Meyers stated in the release, and "Shirley and Jane are joining a team of professional agents who focus on active service to their clients." The Home Team at Meyers Realty also consists of the third generation of Meyers family Realtor brokers Andy Meyers, executive broker, and Darin Meyers, associate broker.

Anderson-Jones was born in Hot Springs, graduated from Mountain Pine High School and just returned to the city from Houston, Texas. She brings a rich history of business experience from serving as a technology coordinator for district school technology needs, accounting supervisor for a local bank, accounting and administrative management, and recently owning with her husband their own trucking transport company.

"Jane Phillips-Jolly knows Hot Springs very well from years of lake enjoyment at the family lake home and now living here for the last three years, and starting in real estate in neighboring Little Rock with her husband at Block Realty, one of the cities past largest real estate firms." With Block Realty, Phillips-Jolly had experience in developing subdivisions, home building and commercial sales.

She just married David "Doc" Jolly, a local large-animal veterinarian and they reside at their horse and stabling Step Ahead farm.

Phillips-Jolly has a long and current history of volunteer service and civic participation. She is a graduate of UALR, the New York School of Interior Design, and the Dale Carnegie Training Course.

Larry Meyers, Andy Meyers and wife Cindy, and Darin Meyers have committed their family real estate office model to be relatively small in number of agents with a priority that the agents compliment each other with personal integrity, professionalism and work ethic. Meyers stated that both Anderson-Jones and Phillips-Jolly definitely fit that Home Team model, which provides a team that best services the real estate needs of clients.

Anderson-Jones may be reached at 501-282-9403, and Phillips-Jolly at 501-681-2422.
