A Hot Springs Village man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly battering his live-in girlfriend and another person at their residence.

Zachary Charles Johnson, of 4 Santistiban Way, was taken into custody at approximately 5 p.m. and charged with a felony count of second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and misdemeanor violation of a no contact order, punishable by up to one year.

He remained in custody Thursday in lieu of zero bond and is set to appear Nov. 14 in Garland County District Court.

According to the affidavit, Johnson's girlfriend told Hot Springs Village police Johnson arrived at the residence and became violent, yelling at her and another man at the residence. Johnson allegedly began chasing the man, tackling him to the ground. The man stated while they were on the ground, Johnson punched him several times in the lower back. Johnson then got up and pushed his girlfriend to the ground, holding her down for several seconds.

She said Johnson released her, grabbed a leaf blower and went around to the back of the residence. The girlfriend reportedly had scrapes on her right arm and the man had a scratch on the left side of his face and scrapes on his hands.

It was determined there was a "no contact order" filed by the girlfriend against Johnson, but she did not have a copy. It was noted that although there was a court order in place, Johnson was allegedly living at the victims' residence.

The police officers made contact with Johnson who was not able to give a clear account of the incident. Johnson alleged his girlfriend has physically abused him on several occasions, but he did not report any of the incidents.
