New pelvic health program launches at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs

CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs recently launched a Pelvic Health Therapy Clinic, offering specialty rehabilitation services focused on pelvic floor disorders and muscle dysfunction.

Conditions treated include urinary and fecal incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, prenatal and postpartum pain, pelvic organ prolapse and many other conditions.

"Most of the conditions we see are often undertreated due to embarrassment and a general lack of awareness concerning treatments available," said Darci Saunders, PT, DPT, in the press release. "At CHI St. Vincent, we are committed to helping improve our patients' quality of life. No one should suffer silently."

Some of the specialized services offered at the Pelvic Health Therapy Clinic include biofeedback and surface electromyography, bladder re-training exercises, electrical stimulation and customized therapeutic exercise programs.

"We meet with each patient individually to discuss his or her medical condition and then we lay out a treatment plan, which generally involves physical therapy visits to the clinic, as well as exercises to do at home," said Saunders. "There is no other clinic in the Hot Springs area offering this type of program. People would have to drive to Texarkana or Little Rock to receive treatment that we now offer right here at home."
