Roanoke MBC celebrates annual Men's Day

Roanoke Missionary Baptist Church, 315 Whittington Ave., will celebrate its annual Men's Day at 3 p.m. Sunday with guest speaker Jerry Thomas. The theme will be "The Legacy of an Upright Man." Roanoke Male and St. Mark Male choruses will render the music. Call 624-7331 for information.

Thomas has a master degree in counseling from Southern Arkansas University, master's in history from Louisiana Tech University and doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University. He is vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management with National Park College.

UUCHS holds annual Water Communion

Unitarian Universalist Church of Hot Springs, 100 Norwalk St., will hold its annual Water Communion at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Member Denise Marion will lead a celebration of its shared faith and a fall in-gathering service. Bring a small container of water that holds special meaning. The water can be taken from a lake, stream, ocean, local or distant spring, collected from the sky, squeezed from a cucumber, etc. Communion will combine these waters in a common bowl.

At 9 a.m. the Wisdom Seekers will have a new book discussion on "Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis," by J.D. Vance.

Young People's Day held at Greater St. Paul

Greater St. Paul Baptist Church, 497 Crescent Ave., will celebrate its Annual Young People's Day on Sunday. Guest speaker for the 11 a.m. service will be Wallace Francis, of Ambassadors for Christ International USA of Douglasville, Ga. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and former pro football player with the Buffalo Bills and the Atlanta Falcons.

Guest speaker for the 3 p.m. service will be the Rev. Hershel Williams, associate minister of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Arkadelphia.

Music will be furnished by the Young People of Greater St. Paul and Greater Pleasant Hill.

The public is welcome.
