OBU announces dates for campus visitation

ARKADELPHIA -- Ouachita Baptist University announces Tiger Days and other methods to visit campus for the class of 2021 and other upcoming classes.

Ouachita Admissions Counseling creates opportunities to introduce all aspects of the university to prospective students. Personal tours and overnight visits are among the several ways interested students can visit the campus. The first Tiger Day of the fall semester was held Sept. 9.

"The best way to find out if a campus is right for you is to visit that campus. You can't really get a feel for what the campus is like unless you are on the campus," said Lori Motl, director of admissions counseling.

Tiger Days are weekday events and Preview Days are Saturday events. Getting Ready for Ouachita's World is an annual overnight event each fall. Guests can schedule personalized tours for any day convenient for their schedule.

Tiger Days include a campus tour, as well as lunch, led by current Ouachita students. Prospective students are invited to sit in on a class and parents are offered a session with Ouachita administrators.

Other fall dates for Tiger Days are Nov. 18 and Dec. 2. Spring dates are Jan. 27, Feb. 20, March 3, March 13, April 17 and April 26. Registration is open for Tiger Days at http://www.obu.edu/tigerdays.

GROW allows high school juniors and seniors to stay in a residence hall for the night with current OBU students during Homecoming week for $45, which also covers tickets, dinner, breakfast and a shirt. Students are able to sit in on classes and attend a performance of Tiger Tunes, OBU's annual sing-and-dance competition that raises more than $100,000 annually for student scholarships.

Students may attend GROW Oct. 12-13 or Oct. 13-14. Registration is open at http://www.obu.edu/grow and space is limited.

Preview Days are Saturday events that align with some of the most exciting days on Ouachita's campus. The fall Preview Day on Nov. 12 features the Battle of the Ravine football game against Henderson State University.

"It's a day where we can showcase the Tiger Nation spirit," Motl said. "It's one of the oldest and most unique rivalries and the shortest road trip in the NCAA."

Spring Preview Day is April 8 and gives prospective students an opportunity to see "Arkansas' most exciting college weekend," Tiger Traks, a field day-style weekend of competition among student teams that raises money for student scholarships. Students are able to register for both of Preview Day events now at http://www.obu.edu/previewday.

Ouachita also offers personal campus tours tailored for individual students. They are customized to fit a student's schedule interest. The visits often include tours of campus, meeting with a dean or coach in their area of interest and visiting with an admissions counselor. To schedule a personal tour or to register for any of the events mentioned above, visit http://www.obu.edu/tigerevents.
