Senators score quickly, pound Cobras 47-18

LITTLE ROCK -- Joe T. Robinson's offense makes time-honored football traditions like ball control irrelevant.

The Senators routed Fountain Lake 47-18 Friday night and ran just 27 plays. Senior quarterback Hunter Eskola completed seven of eight passes for 254 yards and five touchdowns, Robinson scoring on five of its six first-half possessions and needing just 12 plays for a 33-12 halftime lead.

Senior receiver Koilan Jackson had four catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 34-yard run and a 24-yard punt return.

Junior Nathan Page added three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 17 and 22 yards and catching a late-first half pass.

"We told the kids (the visiting Cobras) are going to try and run the clock," Robinson coach Todd Eskola said in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. "That is just part of it. We don't worry about time of possession. Our goal is to score every time we get the ball and I don't care if it one play or 15 plays."

Page scored on the Senators' first play, a 22-yard run after a bad snap set up the short drive and Chandler Pruitt kicked it to 7-0 a little more than a minute into the game. On a three-play scoring drive, Eskola passed 53 yards to Jackson for a 14-0 lead.

Fountain Lake's Hunter Bryant hit Cade Dodge on a 49-yard touchdown pass, Robinson's Hunter Swoboda blocking the PAT and leaving it 14-6.

Corey Page grabbed a 57-yard TD pass from Eskola on a three-play drive of 63 yards. The extra-point attempt failed, and Fountain Lake pulled within 20-12 on a 14-play drive of 54 yards, Myles Fells blocking the PAT.

Nathan Page (22 yards) and Jackson (31 yards) had touchdown catches in the last 3:37 of the half, which ended 33-12.

"We didn't practice very well this week," Todd Eskola said. "We just came out sloppy both sides of the ball, but the kids are resilient and they played well enough to get the job done."

Robinson is 4-0 after winning its 4A-7 opener, completing a two-game Garland County sweep after downing Lakeside 51-28 at War Memorial Stadium in Week 1. Fountain Lake, 0-4, plays defending 4A champion Nashville, 19-0 under second-year coach Mike Volarvich, at home Friday night.
