Walking on

The Sentinel-Record/Lorien E. Dahl

Jack Abernathy drives his Cancer Tractor to lead participants to the Balboa Trailhead following opening ceremonies of the 15th annual Village Walk for Cancer Research on Saturday. Abernathy painted his John Deere tractor pink, to represent breast cancer, the seat blue, to represent prostate cancer, and affixed colored magnet ribbons to represent other cancers, all in hopes of raising awareness about the disease. Walkers wearing blue T-shirts are all cancer survivors, and more than 50 of them gathered for a group photograph that morning.
