A vote for honesty

Dear editor:

Studies have found that, on average, the brains of liberals have greater volume in a region known as the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). This area has been linked to several functions, including conflict detection, which enables us to regulate our behavior by identifying discrepancies between instinctual, habit-driven impulses and our actual intentions. So whether you're swerving to dodge a deer in the road or hesitating to eat that rotten grape in the bowl, you can thank your ACC for its conflict detection capabilities. Apparently liberals create their own reality.

Well, my little schoolteacher mother used to laughingly say: "Facts is facts and figgers don't lie."

Mr. Nunn wants to believe that churches wouldn't accept a Palestinian Jew. I made my living working in churches, dear Mike, over six decades, and never saw one that didn't accept Jew, Palestinian, Iranian (my beautiful youngest daughter is Persian), Filipino, Korean, Chinese, African-American. I probably know more about churches than Mike ever will.

I try, Mike, to be "nice to other people, not racist, not fighting wars," to quote yourself. I've always been polite to you. I have no reason to trash you or call you an "idiot" because we disagree. How is it grown men have time to sit over their computers and trash sweet little old ladies and attribute all kinds of hate to us? Don't you guys have a life? One can't have a sensible conversation because liberals shout "liar!" It's a no-win situation!

This is what Mr. Lindholm has done. But everything I said is true. As to the subject which prompted all this: If you have ever been involved in the publishing business, you know that the author writes his own bio, and the publisher continues to return your manuscript to you until all mistakes are corrected. If Obama's agent was so sloppy as to leave the "mistake" on the book for 15 years, we may assume another possibility: perhaps it was there to help him get foreign-student scholarships -- which many believe he probably did under the name Barry Soetoro. Since he has spent millions keeping his school transcripts secret, we can't know for sure.

It is my belief that you gentlemen are jealous of Trump. Where are the golf courses and magnificent towers you guys have built? If your daddy left you a million dollars, have you turned it into billions? Jesus even had a story about young men who did just that -- except for one. Read about it in Matthew 25.

I would like to close with Mr. Lindholm's own Faulkner quote: "Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed."

You dear guys have raised your voices against my honesty and truth, and are planning to vote for lying and greed. Like Faulkner, I raise my voice to truth-telling. Let's stop murdering each other's reputations with false accusations. Indeed, what a world we would have!
