Local residents to perform in 'Fiddler on the Roof' in Mount Ida

MOUNT IDA -- Six Hot Springs residents will participate in producing "Fiddler on the Roof," a musical presented by the Montgomery County Council for the Performing Arts in Mount Ida.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday and Oct. 9, and 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Roosevelt Auditorium, 414 Whittington St. in Mount Ida.

Kristen La Medrid will serve as pianist; Roxy Collingwood will portray Golde; Gracie Littlejohn-Barlow will provide choreography; Victor Li Mandri will serve as violinist; Denzil Roland will play the role of Tevye; and Trey Kirchhoff will portray the Rabbi.

La Medrid and Collingwood were recently involved in the Pocket Community Theatre's production of "Sweeny Todd," and Littlejohn-Barlow, a teacher at Diamond Dance Company, volunteered her choreographer services to "fine-tune the tavern dances of the Jews and Russians and the child, Chava's, dance," a news release said.

Tickets are $6.

The cast and crew are made up of members and friends of the MCCPA, which was organized in 1985. This is the second time that "Fiddler on the Roof" has been performed by MCCPA, the first time being 30 years ago.
