Last week: Lake Hamilton beat El Dorado 27-21 and Texarkana lost 55-10 to Greenwood in 6A-West openers.

Last year: Lake Hamilton won 17-13 at Texarkana, which hosts the matchup for the second-straight year.

Noteworthy: Lake Hamilton has won last six meetings (28-14, 47-13, 48-21, 37-15, 27-14 and 17-13). Texarkana beat Lake Hamilton 17-0 in 2007 Class 6A championship game (War Memorial Stadium) after losing regular-season matchup at Wolf Stadium. ... Lake Hamilton faces its first of three new conference members, Russellville, on the road next week. Siloam Springs visits Wolf Stadium Oct. 14 and Lake Hamilton ends the regular season Nov. 4 at Greenwood ... Texarkana lost 37-7 to crosstown rival Texas High and 17-14 to Pleasant Grove, Texas, before beating Camden Fairview 28-20. After three of first four on road, Razorbacks have back-to-back home games (Benton next week). ... First coaching matchup between Lake Hamilton's Jeremy Reed and Texarkana's Todd Ledford.

* Magnolia (1-3) at Lakeside (1-3): Lakeside is No. 15 and Magnolia No. 28 in Hooten's Arkansas Football's Class 5A poll.

Favorite: Lakeside by 14 (Hooten's).

Last week: Teams reached opposite extremes, Lakeside winning 52-48 at Camden Fairview and Magnolia losing 38-0 to visiting White Hall in 5A-Southwest openers.

Last year: Lakeside won 40-13 at Magnolia en route to first conference title since 1975, beating Forrest City and losing to Little Rock McClellan in playoffs.

Noteworthy: Magnolia has won seven of the past 12 meetings. ... Rams' nonconference opponents -- Robinson, Sylvan Hills and Malvern -- have a combined record of 11-1. ... Sophomore Kadyn Roach has run for four of Magnolia's six touchdowns. Panthers outscored 90-24 by Monticello, El Dorado and White Hall since beating Crossett 21-7. John Panter 10-24 in fourth season as coach at Magnolia, which last made playoffs in 2010. Panthers return to Garland County for Oct. 14 game against Hot Springs.

Last week: Hot Springs crushed at home for second-straight week, 42-14 by Watson Chapel, while Hope lost 35-7 at De Queen.

Last year: Hope, led by current University of Arkansas McTelvin Agim, beat Hot Springs 25-14 at Reese Memorial Stadium. Hope tied Lakeside for the 5A-Southwest title despite losing their head-to-head meeting and went two games deep in playoffs, losing 78-44 to eventual champion Pulaski Academy.

Noteworthy: Hope, birthplace of Bill Clinton, has won five of the past seven against Hot Springs, boyhood home and high-school alma mater of the nation's 43rd president. Hope senior quarterback Austin Stubber passed for 255 yards and one touchdown against De Queen, which Hot Springs plays on the road next week. ... Bobcats' defense suffering without Agim, allowing 88 points to 4A-7 opponents Nashville and Ashdown and 83 to Prescott and De Queen the last two weeks.

* Nashville (4-0) at Fountain Lake (0-4): Nashville is No. 1 and Fountain Lake No. 39 in Hooten's Arkansas Football's Class 4A rankings.

Favorite: Nashville by 37 (Hooten's).

Last week: Nashville steamrolled previously unbeaten Arkadelphia 71-40 at Scrapper Stadium while Fountain Lake hung with Robinson for a half before going down 47-18 to the 4-0 Senators.

Last year: In a 15-0 championship season, Nashville's closest came call at home against Fountain Lake, 13-12, with a penalty nullifying a fourth-quarter Cobra touchdown. The Scrappers' only other scare came from Warren (42-37) in the state quarterfinals. Quarterback Leonard Snell (since graduated) led Nashville past Prairie Grove 39-20 at War Memorial Stadium for the school's eighth state title.

Noteworthy: Nashville is 19-0 in two years under Mike Volarvich, former offensive coordinator on two Great American Conference championship teams at Henderson State University. Volarvich succeeded Billy Dawson, whose Russellville team is 4-0 this season. ... The Scrappers average 68 points and 608 yards weekly, scoring 91 points against Idabel, Okla., two weeks ago. Senior Darius Hopkins scored eight touchdowns against Idabel while juniors Ty Pettway and Domonick Kight have combined for 633 yards and 10 touchdowns receiving. ... Fountain Lake beat Nashville 32-29 in 2014 at Beckham Memorial Stadium, after which the Scrappers won their last five conference games and reached the 4A second round before losing to Dardanelle. ... Senior quarterback Hunter Bryant and sophomore running back Andrew Roberson have been the Cobras' offensive mainstays against a brutal schedule. ... Matchup of teams with state championship-winning coaches (Tommy Gilleran at Fountain Lake in 2009).

* Jessieville (3-1) at Glen Rose (4-0): Glen Rose is No. 3 and Jessieville No. 29 in Hooten's Arkansas Football's Class 3A poll.

Favorite: Glen Rose by 30 (Hooten's).

Last week: Visting Glen Rose held off Haskell Harmony Grove 34-31 while Jessieville coasted past winless Bismarck 51-12.

Last year: Glen Rose won 49-17 at Jessieville en route to the state semifinals and 20-7 loss at Prescott.

Noteworthy: Class test for first-year Jessieville coach T.J. Burk's program after blowouts against Two Rivers and Bismarck. Glen Rose rolled past Hot Spring County rival and Class 4A Malvern 36-13 in opener, beating Class 3A Camden Harmony Grove 35-27 in first road game. Quarterback Aaron Weatherford passed for five Glen Rose touchdowns before overflow crowd at Haskell Harmony Grove. ... Jessieville, which last enjoyed a winning season in 2012, has provided its fans some thrills in three home games (the first against Lakeside's junior varsity in the wake of a forfeit from Mountain Pine). Quarterback Adam Saveall, running back/kicker Ruben de Haas and tight end Steven Benson are having solid seasons.

* Cutter Morning Star (2-1) at Quitman (4-0): Quitman is No. 20 and Cutter Morning Star No. 42 in Hooten's Arkansas Football's Class 2A rankings.

Favorite: Quitman by 27 (Hooten's).

Last week: Cutter Morning Star lost 53-20 to visiting Hector while Quitman won 36-20 at Bigelow.

Last year: Quitman beat CMS 31-6 at Eagle Field. The Bulldogs lost four straight after that but made the playoffs, losing 40-19 to Gurdon.

Noteworthy: CMS faces an unbeaten team for the second-straight week -- and it may not be for the last time with England and Conway Christian among future 2A-5 opponents. With win tonight, Cleburne County Bulldogs can match their five wins of last year. It's Brian Narreto's first season as head coach at Quitman, which last year made school's third postseason appearance. ... Picked apart by Hector QB Trevor Gaines, CMS now deals with Trey McGhee, who has totaled 686 yards from scrimmage and accounted for 10 touchdowns.
